LAFAYETTE, La. (KADN) — Acadiana Congressman Clay Higgins met with Lafayette community members over lunch to discuss the latest happenings in Congress.
The local congressman was among a minority in the US House to vote against the ban on social media app TikTok.
A majority of House members supported the measure out of concerns that the Communist Chinese government is collecting data on Americans from the app.
Higgins says he opposes the TikTok ban out of free speech concerns.
The US Senate is now considering the bill to ban TikTok.
If approved by senators, President Biden says he'll sign it into law.
