BATON ROUGE, La. (KADN) — No comments were heard from the public and no decison was made in regards to masks at school due to the lack of people wearing mask at the BESE board meeting. The meeting was called to adjourn early by member of the board in a 8-2 vote.
The Board of Secondary Education was hosting the meeting to clarify the mask policy for Louisiana schools.
Governor John Bel Edwards has already issued a statewide mask mandate. The governor's office believes that this mandate applies to the state's school systems.
According to KPEL, 63 members of the Louisiana House of Representatives, all members of the republican party, have sent a letter to the BESE board asking them to reject the governor's mandate.
The governor's mask mandate remains unchallenged.
